All rooms in Phisis hotel, have been built with stone to keep them fresh in the summer, therefore you will find no air-conditioning. As there is no refrigerator inro the rooms, a water dispenser is available for free in a common space. In this way we reduce the waste of plastic during our stay.
Accomodation
We will reach Donoussa by ferry from Piraeus in Athens, on Wednesday afternoon the 26th of June and we will arrive on Thursday the 27th after midnight, where a bus will transfer us to the hotel. The nearest airport is Naxos National Airport, with domestic flights from Athens. There is also a daily (except on Sundays) ferry connection from Naxos Island to Donoussa, with a small local line, the Express Skopelitis.
Donoussa is a small island between Amorgos and Naxos and has a natural beauty amidst fragrant cedar trees and Mediterranean herbs. There is no car rental in the island, but there is a bus to connect the places of residence to the main beaches.
Donoussa offers magnificent views of the surrounding islands of Naxos and Amorgos. We can discover the island on foot. The shortest trail is only 1 km long and the longest is about 4.5 km (1.5 - 2 hours walking time).
In mythology, Donoussa played an important role in the development of Dionysus' relationshop with Ariadne, as the god chose her to take his chosen one there and protect her from Theseus, who in the meantime had abandoned her on Naxos. Certainly, however, during Roman times the island was a place of exile while in the Middle Ages, it served as a pirate stronghold.
